Did you know that every minute, 300,000 used diapers are thrown away around the world? That adds up to a staggering 48 million tonnes of soiled diapers each year, the weight equivalent of 85,720 Airbus A380s.

More than 92 percent, end up in landfills. But unlike organic waste, diapers don’t break down. They remain largely intact, holding their original weight, shape, and volume for centuries.

In fact, each diaper is estimated to take over 500 years to decompose. That’s five centuries of environmental burden from something used for just a few hours.

As landfills reach capacity, countries are being forced to find other ways to deal with the growing waste. Some turn to incineration, which demands huge amounts of energy and releases harmful pollutants into the air.

Others are discarded irresponsibly, ending up in waterways and along coastlines. Diapers in these environments break into plastic fibers that have even been found in fish, proof that this pollution is making its way into our food chain.

To truly understand the scale of this issue, it's important to look at how widespread diaper use is and how deeply it impacts our waste systems.

At Cozycove, we believe that diapers shouldn't come at the expense of our environment.

We are building a net-zero diaper system where every diaper is either recycled, reused, or redesigned to avoid becoming waste altogether.
